Book AppointmentWhat it is, in plain words
Optimize Health now offers therapy with a MedRay Class 4 laser at the Miami Lakes office. In plain words, the device delivers light energy to tissue. That light may ease pain and support healing. It is not a cutting laser and it does not break the skin.
You stay dressed except for the area being treated. The chiropractor holds the applicator on or just above the skin and moves it slowly. You may feel warmth. The session is quiet. There is no injection and no medication in the treatment itself.
A Class 4 laser is used in a clinic, with eye protection, because it puts out more light energy than a small handheld cold laser. The MedRay Class 4 laser is the device this office uses. The exam, not a brochure, decides whether it belongs in your plan.
Wavelengths and what each does
Our MedRay Class 4 laser uses four wavelengths of red and near-infrared light. Each one is commonly used to target a different tissue depth. Your chiropractor chooses the settings after your exam.
650 nm (red light). This is the shallowest of the four. It is commonly used to target tissue near the surface and may help support the skin and superficial soft tissue.
810 nm (near-infrared). This wavelength reaches deeper than red light and is commonly used for muscles and soft tissue. In photobiomodulation it is widely described as supporting cellular energy, which may help ease pain and stiffness.
915 nm (near-infrared). This wavelength is also used for deeper soft tissue. It is often associated with circulation and oxygen delivery in treated areas, which may help support recovery.
1064 nm (near-infrared). This is the deepest-reaching of the four wavelengths. It is used to target deeper structures such as large muscles and joints, and it may help ease deep, achy pain.

Light energy from the MedRay Class 4 laser is one tool. It may ease pain. It is not a promise that a sore area will be gone after one visit, and it is not added until the exam says it fits.
Conditions it may be considered for
After an exam, the MedRay Class 4 laser may be considered for the problems below. Each page explains that problem in more detail. Laser is not the first or only step for any of them.
Neck pain
Stiffness, a tired ache, or pain that sits at the base of the skull can come from joints and from the muscles around them. Light energy may ease pain in that soft tissue while adjustments work on how the neck moves.
Back pain
A sore mid back or low back often involves both joints and the muscles that guard them. The laser may be used on the irritable tissue. It does not replace an exam of the discs and joints.
Sciatica
Sciatica is pain, numbness, or tingling that travels from the low back into the hip or leg. If the exam points to irritated soft tissue around the nerve, laser may ease pain in that area. A disc problem is still looked at on its own.
Sprains
A sprain is a stretched or torn ligament, often at an ankle, wrist, or knee. Once the acute swelling is settling, light energy may support healing in the injured tissue. Early on, the exam may say to wait.
Overuse injuries
Overuse shows up when the same motion, at work or in training, keeps irritating a tendon or muscle. Laser may ease pain and support healing while the plan also changes the load that caused the irritation.
Arthritis
Arthritis can make a joint stiff and achy. The laser may be used around the joint to ease pain. It does not rebuild cartilage, and it is not used over an area where cancer is known.
Shoulder pain
Reaching, lifting, or sleeping on one side can light up the shoulder. When the exam finds irritable tendons or tight muscles, laser may ease pain there and sit next to other shoulder care.
What a visit is like
The first visit is an exam, not a laser session by default. You talk through what hurts, when it started, and what makes it worse. The chiropractor looks at movement, the area itself, and whether something else should be checked first. Digital X-rays are taken only if they would change the plan.
If laser is a fit, you and the chiropractor wear eye protection. The MedRay Class 4 laser is set for the area and moved across the skin for a few minutes. You can say if the warmth is too much. Afterward you can usually stand up and leave without a recovery room. Soreness, if you have any, is discussed before you go.
Later visits are shorter when the exam is already done. The chiropractor checks what changed and decides whether another laser session, a different tool, or a pause makes more sense.
How it pairs with other care
Laser is rarely the whole visit. A chiropractic adjustment works on joint motion. The MedRay Class 4 laser may ease pain in the muscles and other soft tissue around that joint, so the two can be used in the same plan when both are indicated.
Spinal decompression is a motorized table that gently stretches the spine to unload pressure on discs and nerves. It is not surgery, and it is not for every person. If a disc is part of neck pain, back pain, or sciatica, decompression may be the table portion of care, and laser may be used on the surrounding tissue.
Radial and focused shockwave therapy is sound-wave treatment for tendon and soft-tissue pain. Laser is light. Shockwave is pressure. They are different tools. The exam decides whether one, both, or neither belongs in the plan. We do not stack them just because both are in the office.
How many sessions
The number of sessions is decided after the exam. A recent sprain and a long-running shoulder problem are not the same plan. You are rechecked as you go. If the tissue is calming down, the series can be shorter. If it is not changing, the plan changes instead of repeating the same session. Call 786-931-8333 if you want to ask what the first exam includes before you book.
When to see a medical doctor first
Go to an emergency room for a head injury, chest pain, a bone that may be broken, or weakness that is getting worse. This office does not use the MedRay Class 4 laser over the abdomen during pregnancy, over cancer in the area being treated, or when photosensitivity makes light a problem. We screen for those during the exam and refer you when this is not the right office.
FAQ
Does Class 4 laser therapy hurt?
Most people describe a gentle warmth where the light is applied. It should not feel sharp. Tell your chiropractor if an area feels too warm, and the setting can be changed. Mild warmth or redness can linger for a short time after a session.
Is Class 4 laser therapy safe?
For most people it is a generally low-risk option. Eye protection is used during the session. We screen during the exam. It is not used over the abdomen during pregnancy, over an area of cancer, or when a person has photosensitivity that makes bright light a problem. If the exam points somewhere else, we say so and refer you.
How is a Class 4 laser different from a cold laser?
A cold laser, sometimes called a low-level laser, uses a smaller amount of light energy. A Class 4 laser delivers more light energy in a treatment session. That is why eye protection is worn and the beam stays on the area being treated. Whether the MedRay Class 4 laser is a fit is decided after your exam, not from a device name alone.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions is decided after the exam. It depends on the area, how long it has bothered you, and how you respond. Some plans are a short series. Others stop sooner if the exam no longer supports continuing. There is no set count for every person.
Can laser therapy be combined with other care?
Yes. A MedRay Class 4 laser session can sit next to a chiropractic adjustment, spinal decompression, or radial and focused shockwave therapy when the exam supports that mix. It is not added to every visit, and none of those tools is automatic.
Who is not a candidate?
We do not treat over the abdomen during pregnancy, over a known cancer in the area, or when photosensitivity makes light a problem. An open wound, a fever, or pain that is getting worse quickly is a reason to see a medical doctor first. The exam is where we screen for those limits.
