Shoulder tendinopathy means a tendon around the shoulder is irritated, often the rotator cuff tendons on the side or front of the joint. Reaching into a back seat, or sleeping on that side, is when people notice it. Radial and focused shockwave therapy may help that tendon. It is not a substitute for finding out whether the pain is the tendon, the joint, the neck, or a tear that needs a different plan.

How this differs from the rotator cuff page
The rotator cuff page and the shoulder pain page cover the wider problem. This page is narrower: shockwave aimed at a tendon that the exam has already decided is the painful tissue. A suspected full tear, a hot joint, or pain that started with a fall is a different conversation, and shockwave may not be offered.
What we will not claim
Shockwave may help tendon pain. There is no device brand on this page. If another tool fits better, including the MedRay Class 4 laser or hands-on care, that is what the plan says.
Questions
Is shoulder tendinopathy the same as a rotator cuff tear?
No. Tendinopathy is an irritated tendon. A tear is a split in the tendon. The exam, and imaging when it is needed, is how those are told apart.
Does shockwave replace rehab exercises?
No. If shockwave is used, the plan still has to change the load on the tendon. The session does not do that by itself.
Can I use auto insurance for a shoulder after a crash?
Florida PIP may apply after a car accident, and slip-and-fall cases are seen. Self-pay is also available. Details are on the payment page.
